Article by TOI (Mumbai Mirror): Shoaib can’t bowl too fast to the quota boys!

I have tried to get the link, but its not working. There is a nice article published in Mumbai Mirror of Times of India on May 02 ‘06. The article is as follows:

Shoaib can’t bowl too fast to the quota boys!
Tuesday, May 02, 2006 | City

Mirror reader Rohyt, tongue-firmly-in-cheek, suggests weird ways in which the govt can put its reservations policy to good use

I think we should have job reservations in all fields. I completely support the PM and all politicians for making this proposal. Let’s start the reservation with our cricket team. We should have 10 per cent reservation for certain communities, and 30 per cent for those from certain castes. Cricket rules should also be modified accordingly.

For instance, the boundary circle should be reduced for a player from a reserved category. The four hit by such a player should be considered as a six and a six hit by him should be counted as eight runs. Also, if such a player scores 60 runs, it should be declared as a century. We should influence the ICC and make rules so that pace bowlers like Shoaib Akhtar are not allowed to bowl fast balls to our ‘reserved’ player. Bowlers should bowl at a maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour to the player. Any delivery above this speed should be made illegal. Also we should have reservation in the Olympics. In the 100 meters race, a reserved player should be given a gold medal if he runs 80 meters.

There can be reservation in government jobs also. Let’s recruit pilots, just because they are from the reserved castes, for aircraft which carry ministers and politicians (that would really help the country…)

Ensure that only doctors who have benefited from the quota system operate on our politicians.

Let’s be creative and think of ways and means to guide India forward. Let’s show the world that India is a great country. Let’s be proud of being an Indian.

This article gave a nice punch to all politicians who have increased the reservation seats of SC/ ST/ OBCs to increase their vote banks. I really feel bad about the General class who has to always suffer.

I really found this article too good. The best line is “Ensure that only doctors who have benefited from the quota system operate on our politicians.”

I thought let me share to others who have not read it. Its worth reading it

Nice post Nidhi
These dirty politicians can do anything for thier vote banks.
That “Doctors” quote is too good
But b4 going to them, We should realize that we only elected them.
We have to think before elections…
There is GREAT NEED OF YOUNG GENERATION POLITICIANS in India
who can think innovative and Cretaive…………
These politicians wont change ….. Dirty fellows..
anyway nice post

Nidhi , yes article gives a massive punch to all politicians and releted to them. i wonder how come i did not find this wonderful article in Bangalore’s newspapers.i loved too the best line.

i hope politicians and mandal commision should understand that only good primary education is going to create revolution in backward class people.Goverment should provide better, neat and free primary educations for backward class people. once backward class people will be comfortable at primary education they will never need any reservation at higher level.
i wonder howcome some of educated politicians also support reservations of SC/ST/OBC in educations or in jobs.

Nice post !!! kudos to you.

Few days back, I was watching a news channel on where one of the person was talking to Ram Vilas Pawan regarding the whole quota system. There when the anchor asked why this quota system is not followed in Parliament also ? Paswan replied “In Parliament there are already more than 50% SC/ST & OBC candidates! What more reservation you want ?

Then it hit me! When these people are sitting in Parliament [the people who pass such change in legislature & laws], what are you and me ??

In today’s TOI also it is said that many senior leaders in Congress have came out in open supporting the new quota system, and one of them is Sharad Pawar !!

As much noise we may make, as much foul-play we may cry, nothing is going to happen and new quota will be implemented. Not because we didn’t or won’t tried, but because there already are many “shady characters” who support these things and our number is really LESS.

“Ensure that only doctors who have benefited from the quota system operate on our politicians.”

HA HA ROFL…

Maybe some Michael Moore wannabes should go ask these guys when and where they were last admitted or operated..

Chanced on your blog while I was blog-hopping…good posts.

I got to visit your blog after so long… I hope everything is good going.. Quota system.. huh! I don’t know whats up with the politicians here.

Anyways, I am not in good mood after posting these pics on my blog, I still can’t decide whether to keep this post or drop.

Hi

Witty article , cynisism is apparent and the message is conveyed rightly.
Yours word selection is amazing on this one.

PS: kept the comments open

Hi Aarti, I thot sweet messages is for the visitors to leave messages. Your blog layout is very different and nice.

Hi Poornachander, I know, we only have elected them but out of 100; 99 are corrupt. Whom so ever we select does the same. Moreover, the majority of backward classes go to vote, the General class/ High Class sit at home, watch news about who has been elected. What you expect, the polition of backward class wins who has a history of murders, rape, sweeper etc etc.

Hi Dilip, The article must be published by some Mumbai editor and its not on main TOI. It was on local newspaper of TOI.

Dear Neeraj, Yes nothing gonna change, not even strikes will change. Congress will surely implement this revised quota system. It seems now Congress people are saying that they cannot backout from the commitment they have given to OBCs. WHAT THE HELL. Have they done any prior discussion before giving commitment. WHY WE HAVE TO SUFFER BECAUSE THEY HAVE GIVEN COMMITMENT ON OUR BEHALF. WHY CANNT THEY NEVER COMMIT ANYTHING TO GENERAL CLASS, ARE THEY NOT PART OF INDIAN POPULATION. OMG. The more I think, the more I get angry.

@Reflextion, Thanks for visiting my blog and liking it.

@No Words to say, I am fine and hope you are also well. Ya, dont spoil your mood, lol. Your blog title is too good, “no words to say”

Dear Anu, Yes conveyed rightly. Thanks to make it open. Love

Love and Hugs
Nidhi

Yeah Nidhi , even i read in newspaper that congress has promised mandal comission to implement new reservation system and congress is saying that they can not break their promises given to mandal commisson.

i wonder how congress is saying this . Indian Junta who played major role in making congress as winning party in central government are being ignored by same party. why congress party is not stick with the promises for the betterment of societies they made to juntas at election time. They are not working on basic needs of people. how the hell congress is saying to stick with the promises given to stupid mandal commission for reservation.

why congress party is not stick with the promises for the betterment of societies they made to juntas at election time.

Dilip, which government really sticks to it’s promises ?? Or which promises are you talking about ??

The thing is people like me, you and few-hundreds of others dosen’t make much of a difference during voting time. What make the difference is the majority of village-dwellers, SC/STs, OBCs.

Politicians know very well that we will make great hue & cry for few days, say 2 months atmost, after that everything will quiet down. We will again get back to our lives like nothing much has happened. And that is the truth.

Hey Nidhi,

Well i read the same was gonna put it up on my blog too, but you beat me at it :), but I was totally amazed at the way the person wrote that, couldn’t stop laughing, couldn’t stop thinking, it put me in various thoughts all at once.

But Its the best article I have read, it got me reading each every word twice, and the third time here.

Well its a stark reality and no one is ready to tackle it, but the person’s words made it so much lighther for me, I hope the people who are concerned read it.

Keith

Hi Keith, Yes the article is to good and very sarcastic to politians.
Your blog is too informative.
Cheers
Nidhi

Good article, nice thoughts and really meaningful discussion.

I agree with most of the comments that we don’t use our voting rights properly which ultimately result into such decisions taken by corrupt politicians and this is the time when we need to open our eyes and stand against these decisions being taken by our leaders.

About electing right politicians, look around you, it is not difficult to find right people to elect but most of us follow the way shown by others rather than following their own minds.

And yes, here is hte link to post -

dear country men

Have you seen how worthless our ploitical system is? All old people sitting in the Parliment for decades (including the quota fame HRD minsiter who has to be helped physically to enter the parliment). The Indain youth including all comunities must awake now and completely revamp our ploitical system. This is the need of the hour or never. I hope our India’s enemies are having a last laugh in seeing this country of rich heritage burning on a quota mania.
